Players will tryout, receive a rating, and be placed on a team accordingly.

 

Season - Approx. 2-months

 

Practice - 1 time a week

 

Games - 2 times a week

 

Fee - $50.00

5^th, 6^th, 7^th, 8th    Girls

 

WOLVES

5^th, 6^th, 7^th, 8th    Boys

 

**MUST be on an IYB  team to be in this league!

 

10 players per team.  Players will tryout, receive a rating, and be contacted whether or not they made the team.

 

**Playing up – for the 5^th grade teams, if there’s not enough players to make a team then 4^th graders can try out with the understanding that they will play on the 5^th grade team again the following season.  No playing up for 6^th, 7^th, & 8^th at this time.

 

Season – September thru May

 

Practice - Scheduled according to gym space availability.  The goal is to have one 1 ½ hour practice a week during Comp and School basketball seasons and two 1 ½ hour practices on the off seasons.

 

Games – Tournaments within and outside of Alaska.

 

Players must maintain a 3.0 GPA!   Currently our school district requires that a player maintain a 2.0.  We have MANY student athletes that have been ineligible for not 1 season but multiple seasons because they cannot maintain this GPA.  Therefore, it is IMPERATIVE that we raise our standards (FOR THE GRIZZLIES and WOLVES) in order to prepare them for their high school and beyond! When a player leaves our program to enter high school basketball, coaches will be excited to have players that not only have the strong athletic skills but also strong study habits that will ensure they can maintain their G.P.A. while playing basketball!

 

Fee:  A fee structure is being looked at. Costs to consider: gym space, refs, tournament fees, uniforms, coach’s travel & per diem, etc.  Each player will pay the $50 to play in the competitive league and that will cover their initial fee to tryout for a traveling team and guarantee insurance.
